EYFS
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is crucial because it sets the standards for learning, development and care for children, ensuring they receive high-quality education and are prepared for school and future learning.
Key Purposes of the EYFS
Our EYFS provision emphasises a play-based approach to learning, recognising that children learn best through exploration, interaction and hands-on activities.
The EYFS framework focuses on the development of children's physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative skills through various learning areas. By providing a strong foundation for learning and development, the EYFS helps children develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to thrive in school.
We aim to support children of all backgrounds, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential. We encourage collaboration between parents and staff to support children's learning and development.
The EYFS Framework covers seven areas of learning which are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development - Helping children develop a positive sense of themselves and others, form positive relationships and manage their feelings.
- Communication and Language - Supporting children's ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and non-verbally.
- Physical Development - Promoting children's physical abilities and hand-eye coordination, and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
- Literacy - Fostering a love of reading and writing, and developing children's literacy skills.
- Mathematics - Supporting children's understanding of numbers, shapes, and measurements.
- Understanding the World - Encouraging children to explore and learn about the world around them.
- Expressive Arts and Designs - Providing opportunities for children to express themselves creatively through art, music, drama and other forms of expression.
