LAST NEWSLETTER OF 2008-2009 YEAR

What a busy (but enjoyable!) year this has been! The school has experienced many different aspects.

The last day has a mix of feelings for all in the school. Excitement, of course it is holiday time; Sadness, as we have to say goodbye to pupils, parents and adults from our school and finally hope. As our eldest children move on, we look forward to hearing about the achievements as they continue to strive for excellence in their new schools. Stay in touch Year 6 of 2009!

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped, worked, supported or even visited the school this year. Charfield Primary is very fortunate to have a VERY large group of people who work hard to ensure our children have the best experiences possible whilst with us. Thank you again for your support (Same again next year? )

I hope you all have a fantastic break and the weather is kind to us all. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday 3rd September

STAFF NEWS

This week we have said a quiet and sad farewell to Mrs Bradley. During her time in this school Mrs Bradley has taught somewhere in the region of nearly 1,200 children. When you compare this to the population of the village, just under 2,500, you begin to see what a huge contribution Mrs Bradley has made to Charfield.  On behalf of the school, I would like to say Thank You to Mrs Bradley. You will be greatly missed Di !

REPORTS

Hopefully all parents will have had the opportunity to read their child’s annual report. 63 replies were received and we really appreciated the comments that were in them. All returned comments slips have been read and passed onto your child’s next classteacher to help them get to know their new classes better.

FOUND

An unnamed 5m swimming badge has been in my Brill Box for a number of weeks and no one has claimed it in the last two assemblies. If your child brought it in please let me know so I can return it.

WESTON TRIP

On what was a very wet day the children of Key Stage One had a fantastic day. Reports from the teachers have told me that the children’s behaviour was exemplary.

Look out on the website for pictures of the day.

YEAR 4 PROBLEM SOLVING DAY

Thank you to all the adults who came into school on Tuesday to assist with the year 4 problem solving activities. The children really enjoyed the activities

THE FRIENDS

We are sorry that we are a little late with our report:

SUMMER FAIR

A big thank you to all our lovely helpers, what a great day. We managed to raise £440.00 towards our school funds, not bad considering we only had two stalls this year.

GO KARTING

This was brilliant fun.  We took about £200 in ticket sales which was a loss, but we knew this as it was meant to be a little thank you.  Hope those who managed to make it had a good time.

COMING UP

AGM ~ Wednesday 30th September 8pm Infant Block

Fire work night ~ Friday 6th November gates open at 6pm with all the usual attractions

Thanks again everyone, have a great holiday, see you soon, The Friends

THE GAMBIA

Just a reminder that we have a link with Tallingding School in the Gambia . We will be sending our Christmas shoe boxes in November. You may find bits and pieces towards a shoebox during the holidays.

Charfield School also sponsor the schooling of Elam Jaw, a girl at the school. We will need to raise some funds to continue this next term. Thanks

DINNER MONEY - Price increase

Dinner money will cost £1.60 per day from 1st September.

MEMORIAL HALL

Charfield Memorial Hall Committee still needs a Secretary. It isn’t a particularly taxing role, but just needs some time, energy and enthusiasm. Please consider whether you could help, or whether you might know someone who could. It would be such a shame if all the hard work which has been put in to make the Hall a pleasant and successful venue came to nothing and it was forced to close. For more information please contact the current (temporary) Chair, Tim Hill, on 01454 261154 or Deborah Field, Vice-Chair, on 01454 261854.
