Mrs Bradley – We have had a number of requests regarding Mrs Bradley’s leaving present. We have created a memory book which can be found in the school foyer. Please feel free to come in and write some words for Mrs Bradley to reflect on her long teaching career at Charfield Primary.

We recently held our AGM and were unable to appoint a new treasurer. If you or anyone you know would be able to volunteer to take on this important role please contact Lucy Pass (Chairperson) 07841358108. Without a treasurer the pre-school is unable to operate and would be forced to close!
E.G.M. 30th June 8.00 p.m. in the Foundation Room.
With the Summer Fair approaching we are getting ready for the events we at Charfield Primary play a part in. Firstly we have the football tournament. Children have brought in permission slips to take part and we have created two teams for each category (Year 2 > 4 & Year 4 > 6). The school also has a Tug Of War competition that we will ‘rope’ in children on the day.
Following my report last week about two attempts of child abduction in the St George area of Bristol, I have been informed by South Glos Council that two further attempts have been made. One in the Bradley Stoke area and the last in Wick.
I do not wish to cause panic but I feel it would be a wise move to be extra vigilant over the next few weeks.
If you see anything suspicious, please immediately report the matter to the police, using 999 and keep the school informed.
Saturday 18th July 10am – 2pm Go-Karting
Available for all primary school age children, and a driving simulator available for older children and adults who don’t want to feel left out! More details will follow soon.
The Speedmark event on Wednesday was a roaring success on all fronts. Not only did the children thoroughly enjoy themselves and quite frankly scare me with the amount of power they could put into a kick. Reception children were kicking the ball at around 20 mph and Year 6 were way up near 50mph! I would like to thank all who supported this event I was overwhelmed to discover that if all the sponsor money is collected we will raise almost £950!!
That far, far exceeds what I thought we would raise so thank you again for your support
Many thanks to all who have volunteered (or had their arms twisted by Helen!) to take part in supporting the teachers gate duty. We have started a list in the school office of available people. We are hoping to get 10 volunteers to spread the duties over two weeks. If you could help out we would be most grateful.
We have the chance to take four children from year 3 or year 4 to swim in this gala. Children need to be able to swim 50m with confidence. The races available are front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke, freestyle and there will be two relay races. The event starts at 1.30 p.m. and should be finished by the end of the day. Please inform the office in writing if your child is interested and which stroke they would like to do. If you could also help with transport, that would be appreciated. Please let the office know by Wednesday 1st July.
This was completed in a tremendous time and many thanks to all those who have donated.
There have been an increasing number of children bringing toys into school. Please can you explain to your child that toys are for home and should not be brought into school, as they may end up in the teacher’s cupboard!
A letter was sent out earlier in the week inviting year 6 pupils to watch the dress rehearsal of Grease at KLB School on Monday. Due to a lack of replies we will not now be taking the children.
Thank you to those people who did take the trouble to reply.
