If you would like to contribute to a leaving collection for Mrs Bradley please send your donation in a clearly marked envelope to the school office.
Following our inspection by OFSTED in May our official report has now been published. The report can be viewed on the OFSTED website reports section.
As you may know the children have taken part in a
colouring competition to design a poster/programme cover for the Fair. The
judges had quite a job making a decision but in the end we found the
following winners:
Pacey F’s (Class 4) design was chosen for the cover of the
programme.
Molly G (Class 8), Isabelle W (Class 8) and Emma Hunter’s (1st Woodend)
designs will feature on posters.
All will receive a £5 voucher. Congratulations!
South Gloucestershire recently allocated grants to schools to develop their provision for Extended Schools. The money can only be spent on the development of the school buildings. An idea the school would like to introduce is the creation of a ‘play pod’. The pod would be filled with items (not toys) that would encourage imaginative and cooperative play for our children.
We would also offer use of this facility to our after school & holiday clubs. In addition we could investigate the use of the pod for children’s parties. I would appreciate your thoughts on this and would welcome comments.
Thank you to Hilary Wignall for the very long and time consuming task of counting all the vouchers.
On Wednesday we will be hosting the Speed Mark event. Please can you ensure that your child brings their sponsorship form into school on Monday to ensure that they can take part?
Thank you!
There was an attempt to abduct a child in the St George area of Bristol this week; a grey BMW was involved. I have just been informed this follows an attempt in the area last Thursday.
The school has repeated the “stranger danger” warnings to children, and you are requested to repeat the warning too, please. I trust you will agree that it is best if we all work together to underline the seriousness of the incidents.
If you see anything suspicious, please immediately report the matter to the police, using 999 and keep the school informed.
Saturday 20th June from 5.30 p.m. at St. John’s Church, Charfield.
A concert by the children, and those no longer children, including a brass quintet, the church choir, soloist singers, guitarists and much, much more. Cake stall.
Tickets £2.50 from the Rectory or on the door. Refreshments included.
Saturday 18th July 10am – 2pm Go-Karting
Available for all primary school age children, and a driving simulator available for older children and adults who don’t want to feel left out! More details will follow soon.
On Wednesday our parent consultation group met for the second time. In our meeting we discussed ways of improving the arrival of children in Years 2 -6 in the morning. One suggestion that was made was to create a group of volunteer parents to assist the teacher on the gate. The parents would help ensure that no child exited the gate whilst the teacher was talking to children or adults. If you would like to get involved and become one of our volunteers please let us know.
Good Luck to Paul and Sarah Wilkinson, Ian Womack and Louise Keedwell and Steve Dickerson, who are all taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge this Sunday.
They are performing the challenge to raise money this for the Air Ambulance Charity. As you know the Air Ambulance crew have already saved the life of a 14 year old boy in the village, landing in a small space on Woodlands Road.
If you feel you could help in their cause by making a donation please let them know. Thank you.
We have the chance to take four children from year 3 or year 4 to swim in this gala. Children need to be able to swim 50m with confidence. The races available are front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke, freestyle and there will be two relay races. The event starts at 1.30 p.m. and should be finished by the end of the day. Please inform the office in writing if your child is interested and which stroke they would like to do. If you could also help with transport, that would be appreciated. Please let the office know by Wednesday 1st July.
