STAFF NEWS

Mrs Gordon’s baby has arrived! Alfie James Gordon was born on Wednesday morning. Weighing a healthy 8lb 8oz’s mother and baby are doing well.

CAREERS DAY – 22ND MAY

Next Friday is our Careers Day. Have you volunteered and not received a letter yet? If this is the case please contact us and let us know.

YEAR 6 SAT’S

Well done to our Year 6’s for their hard work and dedication during this weeks SAT assessments. All the children have shown great maturity during the week and stayed focused. I’m sure when the results come back they will show the great progress they have made this year.

SAT BREAKFAST CLUB

Thank you to the church group for providing our Year 6 children with breakfast and a place to relax before SATS. The group were in every morning this week at 7:30pm transforming our hall into a dining area (a very swish one at that!). Thank you again we really appreciate you kindness and generosity.

HERE COMES THE BRIDE!

On Thursday the Year 1 wedding took place. The Bride, Groom and congregation enjoyed the ceremony and reception! The children learnt a lot from this event. Many thanks to Viv for allowing us to use the church.

OFSTED

As you may know, Wednesday and Thursday of this week was our OFTSED inspection. The children were fantastic and really rose to the occasion, showing what fantastic learners they are. The process was a beneficial experience for all who are involved in the school. I would like to thank all the staff for their continued dedication during the week (and the weekend before) and to all parents who provided the inspectors with feedback.

MAY FAIR

Thank you to all who organised, helped and came to our May Fair. There were a whole host of things to see and do there. With your help ‘The Friends’ managed to raise a massive £1600 which will go towards enriching your child’s education in the school.

Thank you again!

FRIENDS HAVE THEIR NEXT EVENT ALREADY!

Saturday 18th July 10am – 2pm Go Karting

Available for all primary school age children, and a driving simulator available for older children and adults who don’t want to feel left out! More details will follow soon.

BIRTHDAY BOOK SCHEME

Did you know the school runs a birthday book scheme? This is a great way to not only buy a birthday present but also support the school library. If you would like to find out more contact Karen Riley or the school office.

CHARFIELD PRE-SCHOOL OPEN DAY

On Saturday 16th May 10.00- 12.00 pre-school are holding an open day. Please come along and meet the new team for a chat! We look forward to seeing you there.

SWIMMING GALA

We have the opportunity for children from years 4,5 and 6 to take part in a swimming gala at Thornbury Leisure Centre on 9th June from 1.30 – 3.00 p.m. this gala is really for children who have not completed in galas before and there are a variety of races to be entered. Some races of 25m will require children to be able to swim 50m – they will need to do a practice length to prove this. If your child is interested, see Mrs Windram for a race list before Tuesday 19th May and we can organise entries to each event. We also ideally need 5 parents who would be willing to transport the children and then stay and spectate!

ATHLETICS CLUB

There will be no Athletics Club next week. It will resume Wednesday 3rd June.
