STAFF NEWS

I am pleased to announce that Mrs Bennett will begin to teach Y4 from Monday. I would once again like to thank Mrs White and Mrs Davies for stepping in to teach the class whilst we were looking for a teacher to cover Mrs Gordon’s days.

WALKING BUS

Would anyone out there like to re start our Walking Bus?? We had two in operation a few years ago that took place on Fridays and from what I’ve been told there was quite a bit of fun attached to the journeys! If you are interested or would just like to find out more contact Judith in the school office.

PARENTS GROUP

Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to be part of our new parents group. I will be organising our first meeting shortly.

BOING BOING!

We have recently had a letter from The Castle School offering trampoline lessons to 15 pupils from our school for 12 weeks of coaching in their Sports Hall. The sessions will be for 1 hr a week after school 3.45 – 4.45pm.

The sessions would be run by PE teachers at The Castle School and all hold a current and up to date Level 1 Trampolining qualification.

To be able to offer this opportunity, they would charge £20 each, for 12 x 1hr sessions. If you are interested in this club please register your interest in the school office.

ST GEORGE

On Thursday 23rd April we will be holding a St Georges Day Celebration. The children will be taking part in Eisteddfod events and competitions during the day.

In addition we will have an after school Art Exhibition showing every child’s framed art work in the school hall. Parents will also have the chance to buy the artwork. Further details will come out next week but we would really like to see you there!

MAY-POLE PROBLEM

We have been offered a May Pole by Tortworth School. We have borrowed the pole on a few occasions for our country dancers and for the May Fair. However the pole is 10 feet long and really wouldn’t fit in a car. We need to get it transported to us as Tortworth don’t have the space anymore. Would anyone be kind enough to fetch it for us?

DYSLEXIA

Gloucestershire Dyslexia Association invites you to a spelling workshop on Monday 27th April at 7.30 p.m. at Leonard Stanley School. For more details contact 01452-414669 or 07971 001106.

You are also invited to a Dyspraxia talk on Thursday 21st May at 7.30 p.m. at Alderman Knight School. For more details contact 07963 932966.

VOUCHERS

We are collecting Sainsburys and Tescos vouchers so please come and post them in the boxes in the office reception area. A big thank you to Hilary and Matthew Wignall for counting them all, it is much appreciated!

EMAIL

If you wish to receive this newsletter by email, please call into the school office and leave your address. Alternatively you could email our newsletter section (now that does sound posh!) with ADD ME in the subject line. Please provide us with your child’s name and class to the address charfieldschoolnews@hotmail.co.uk

PLAY AREA BARK RAKING

On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of April the friends will be replacing some of the bark (8 M3 of it) and fluffing up the rest. If you have a few hours to spare from after school on 24th and 10.00 on 25th, we would be very appreciative of your help and if you could bring a rake that would be even better. We have to get it super fit for the annual safety inspection on the play equipment and area.

FOUND BUDGIE

A budgie was found last night in Woodlands Road, it is yellow and has a ring around one foot and appears to be very tame. If you think it may be yours it has been taken to Rowe Vets at Bradley Green.

ICE PACKS

Please could you have a look at home to see if you have any school ice packs and covers, as we have NONE in school. We use these regularly for bumps so really need to locate them urgently.
