STAFF NEWS

I am pleased to announce that Mrs Bennett will be joining us to teach Year 4 whilst Mrs Gordon is on her maternity leave. Mrs Bennett was due to begin teaching at the beginning of Term 5 however she has agreed to begin as soon as her security checks have cleared. Welcome to Charfield Mrs Bennett

CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY – AWARDS WANTED!!

Have you gained a certificate, badge, medal trophy since the holiday? If so please bring it in so we can show everyone in our next Friday Assembly.

BOOK FAIR SUCCESS

Many thanks to all who bought books at our Book Fair last week. We sold £544.41 in books!

As you probably know the school will benefit from this event and a percentage of that money will be winging its way back to us soon. We will then use it to buy more books for our school library and classes.

CHANGES TO BEHAVIOUR POLICY

Starting on Monday we will be adding to the behaviour policy. Any child who gets five amber warnings in one week will receive a red warning, therefore a letter will be sent home. This is because staff have noticed a number of children will get two amber warnings in a day and then modify their behaviour to prevent getting a red.

HEAD LICE

This week a letter was sent home with all children informing everyone that we have had some cases of head lice within the school. Please could you take time to check and treat your child’s hair to ensure that we stop this most recent spate.

For more advice there is a website you might like to visit www.advicebank.co.uk/lice

Please note – In the case of a child being identified with large numbers of head lice it is the school’s policy to insist that pupils are taken home to receive treatment

COMIC RELIEF SMARTIES DAY

Today the school went Comic Relief Mad. Firstly everyone came into school dressed in one colour to look like smarties. From this we raised a staggering £107.94.

This total was added to by Chloe, Eleanor and Kayla. Kayla spent 3 hours last night cooking cakes. The girls then worked together at break-time selling the cakes to the rest of the school. Their hard work paid off and they raised £37.94!

During lunch Charlotte, Keesha and Shannon became buskers and performed dances to the school.

I am very proud of the children’s community spirit and the positive way they approached today. Well Done Everyone!!!

ST JOHN’S JUNIOR CHOIR

Mothering Sunday is looming and the choir is rehearsing something special.

They will have an extra rehearsal IN SCHOOL on Friday morning 20th March as well as meeting as usual in the afternoon.

On Saturday 21st March, we are preparing the flowers for Sunday. This is at Kingswood. . . St Mary’s church from 10.00 BUT I am going up there and will take any children who need a lift (assuming the whole school doesn’t want a lift!). Please let me know if you need transport or have a great desire to help!!!

Thanks, Viv the vicar.

DIN DINS

Jill has asked me to inform you that she will now be offering a choice of mashed potato or roasties on Roast Dinner Days.
