STAFF NEWS

We were very sad to hear that Mr Malpass, Headteacher 1969-1989, passed away recently. Mr Malpass was a well loved Headteacher at Charfield and I have heard many stories of his achievements and exploits whilst he was at Charfield.

I have been told that he made the most of his retirement and spent the last 20 years exploring the world and visiting some very exotic places. Mr Maplass’ funeral was held at St John’s on Thursday and our sympathies go to his wife and family.

Sadly Mrs Gordon will not be returning to school for the remainder of this academic year. Mrs Southwell will teach the class from Wednesday – Friday and in the short term Mrs White has again come to our aid to teach the class on a Monday and Tuesday.

This week Mrs Smith began her teaching duties with Year 5. Welcome to Charfield, I hope you really enjoy teaching within our school.

EXTREME READING COMPETITION

Did you enter our ‘Extreme Reading’ competition as part of World Book Day? If so please email or send in pictures to the school office. Thanks You still have time to enter! All you need is a book, a camera and an extreme location!

The winner of the competition will be the person the judging panel decide have read in the most extreme location (or funniest!!!)

BOOK FAIR AND WORLD BOOK DAY VOUCHER

Next week the Book Fair will arrive! Please come in and see what books are on offer! Children will be able to use their World Book Day vouchers towards the books too!

Are you able to help us run the Book Fair? Let us now if you can. Thank You!

DRESSING UP OPPORTUNITIES

We have two events coming up that will give the children (and us to be honest!!) the opportunity to dress up.

The first of these will be for World Book Day on Thursday. We would love the children to come into school dressed as a character from a book. All we ask is that the children bring in the book as well.

Secondly, children from Year 5 suggested a SMARTIES day for Comic Relief (Friday 13th March). Their idea is for children to come in dressed all in one colour, e.g blue, and donate 50p to comic relief. The children have asked the other classes and they were keen so we are going to go for it. I hope you will support our Year 5 fund raisers!

If you wish to receive this newsletter by email, please call into the school office and leave your address. Good Luck! Mo, Lisa & Nicola

TAG RUGBY

Please note there will be no Tag Rugby this term. There will be no clubs on Monday and Wednesday next week due to parent/teacher consultations.

CHURCH JUMBLE SALE
