STAFF NEWS

On Monday we held interviews for a teacher to take Year 5 Wednesday to Friday. I am pleased to announce that Mrs Smith was appointed and will be teaching the class after half term. Welcome to Charfield!

On the subject of Year 5 …..Thank You Mrs White for kindly covering Mrs Rolfe’s teaching days whilst we looked for a teacher.  Thank you also to Mrs Bradley for helping Mrs White get to know the class quickly and for covering the days that Mrs White couldn’t cover.

Whilst I am saying Thank you ……Thank you Mrs Southwell. Mrs Southwell has agreed to increase her teaching days when Mrs Gordon begins her maternity leave. An advert for a teacher to cover Mrs Gordon on Monday’s & Tuesday’s has been placed.

TEACHER TRAINING DAY

Just a reminder that tomorrow (13th February) the school will be closed for an INSET day

PARENT LINKS TRIUMPH AGAIN!!

A huge THANK YOU to Mark Ashby for arranging for us to have more furniture for storing resources. Thanks also to Chris Trueman and Debbie Riddle for taking the time to drive to Gloucester to collect it!

EXTREME READING COMPETITION

If you are looking for a fun activity to do over the Half Term why not enter our ‘Extreme Reading’ competition as part of World Book Day

What do we have to do?  Simple…. All you need is a book, a camera and an extreme location!!!

The winner of the competition will be the person the judging panel decide have read in the most extreme location!

SCHOOL COUNCIL INCREASE PUPIL RESPONSIBILITY

The School Council have recently created ‘Corridor Monitors’ after some classes commented upon pupils being in the wrong places during lunch time. The Year 5 children now have the responsibility of working with the Dinner Ladies to make sure that everyone is safe and happy at lunch. Thank You School Council & our new monitors.

PARENTS JOB TALK OFFERS

Many thanks to the parents who have offered to talk to children about their occupations (and the site visit offers too!)

I would love to get enough people to organise a Whole School ‘Careers Day’. If you can help please let the office know.

PARKING

We have received some more complaints regarding people parking in areas that are a risk to our pupils. Please remember that parking outside the school and on the pavement is putting our children at risk and is an offence that police can take action on.

Please can I also remind you that the school drive must not be used for dropping off children at school or pre school as this is putting our infant children, who enter at this side of the school, at risk.

Thanks for your cooperation.

EMAIL

If you wish to receive this newsletter by email, please call into the school office and leave your address. Alternatively you could email our newsletter section (now that does sound posh!) with ADD ME in the subject line. Please provide us with your child’s name and class to the address charfieldschoolnews@hotmail.co.uk

HEALTHY EATING

Last week a few children began bringing crisps into school. Please can you supply your child with alternative snacks in order for our school to maintain its healthy schools status.

Many thanks for your cooperation

LIBRARY

Exciting news! Thanks to some hard working parents and Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Britton the school library will re-open for business after half term. Classes 3, 4, 7 and 8 will visit on Monday afternoons and classes 1, 2, 5 and 6 will visit on Wednesday afternoons.

KLB CROSS COUNTRY

The new date for the final run is 28th Feb at KLB. There will be a mums and dads race and presentations rounding off the morning.

WEBSITE

Don’t forget to check the events section of the school website; we update it regularly with the activities that take place in school. www.charfieldschool.org

AND FINALLY!!!

Thanks to everyone who has helped, given time, donated and visited the school this term. I hope everyone has a great break next week and I look forward to seeing you all on the 23rd February.
