BOOKS FOR SCHOOLS

Please collect as many tokens as you can from The Times and The Sunday Times and give them to your child to bring to school. Tokens can be deposited in our special collection box which is in the school reception area.

ON THE SUBJECT OF BOOKS…..

Can anyone spare time to help with reading? We would love to have some more parent (or grandparent) readers.

…..and MATHS

we are looking for parents, grandparents, friends to play games with small groups to help the development of maths concepts.

INVENTORY HELP

Many thanks to Mrs Aston, who came in this week to complete our inventory list. I am very grateful to you for completing this task!

CHARFIELD RAINBOWS

There are currently some places available at Charfield Rainbows for 5 to 7 year olds.  If your child is interested in joining please contact Jo Holloway on 07894 667977.

HARNESSING CHARFIELDS WIND

We have been looking at the exciting possibility of installing a small wind turbine to power some of the schools equipment. We believe that installing the turbine would not only provide us with power, but also with ecological learning opportunities for our children.

We would hope to place the turbine in an inconspicuous location at the bottom of the school field where it would not interfere with our neighbours.

We would like to offer you the opportunity to attend an information meeting on Monday 2nd February at 5pm to discuss the project and ask any questions. Please contact the office if you wish to attend.

We are very excited about this project and we hope to see you there.

PUPILS ASPIRATION’S

The children recently completed a survey to inform us about many different aspects of school. One of these areas was ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ We would like to do something with the answers they gave. At the end of this newsletter is a list of the jobs. If you, or anyone you know, does one of the jobs and would be willing to come in and talk to the children (or even arrange a visit to their place of work.) we would really appreciate it. Please contact the office if you are able to help. Thanks!

ROAD CLOSURE

Please be advised that Wotton Road will be closed, from its junction with Charfield Road to the county boundary at Watsome Farm, from the 9th February 2009 to 3rd April 2009.

This is to allow for drainage works by Gloucestershire Highways.

ICT CLUB

This is running now for all key stage one children. If your child wishes to join please see Miss Dennis or Mrs Tyler
