FRIENDS CHRISTMAS WORK

What can I say? The efforts of the Friends at the weekend were magnificent. It seemed as though the whole village had been taken over by us!

On Friday a group of hard working Friends prepared the school for the fair, transforming areas into craft rooms, games rooms and preparing a grotto for Santa!

Saturday, Take Over Day. I am sure most of the village visited the school; Santa had a steady stream of visitors, the games and craft room were busy all afternoon and the hall was packed out!

Whilst we were in the warm, eating pizza and buying gifts another bunch of dedicated Friends were braving the cold and busily selling Christmas Trees in the Memorial Halls car park. And what great trees they had. There was a mad rush of tree selling and those brave (and cold!) Friends sold nearly all the trees!

Thank you really doesn’t come close to expressing the gratitude and pride the school has in its volunteer Friends. The effort and work you put into these events is phenomenal. Not only do you raise funds that help us improve the school for our children, but you also create a community spirit that is hard to find in many other places in the country.

P.S – Did you visit Santa? If you did photos of your visit are on the school website in the events section.

P.P.S – The Friends have given the school funds to provide EVERY child with a something for Christmas this year. Thank you!

CHRISTMAS PLAY

Key Stage 1 performed ‘C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S spells Christmas’ brilliantly this week; we were very proud of them. Thank you to all who were involved in making the performance so successful.

I am looking forward to next week and the Key Stage 2 performance!

BREAK TIME TUCK

Please note the kitchen will be unable to provide break time tuck on 18th & 19th December due to Christmas lunch and end of term cleaning. The price of toast and marmite will increase to 15p with immediate effect. Change of menu on Tuesday 16th December is now: Roast Chicken and Xmas Shortbread.

NUTS

Please make sure that you do not send anything containing nuts or indeed nuts themselves into school as we have recently had one of our children diagnosed with a nut allergy.

THANK YOU’S……..

Thank you to all those very kind people who so generously gave shoe boxes, we collected 120 in total. We will get some photos after Christmas of the children in The Gambia receiving them.

Thank you, and our sincere appreciation to Nicola Jones and Claire Argust for giving up their time to help sort out the library this term.

DVD SHOWING

As part of our Christmas festivities in school next week, we plan to show the children the film “ELF”. This is a PG certificate so if you do not wish your child to see this film, please make the school office or your child’s teacher aware.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

There will be no After School Clubs next week.  The Clubs will re-start next term.

DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to all who participated in the Cross country last weekend.  Photos of some runners can be found on the Web Site.

Thank you Mo, Nicky and Lisa for all your effort with the children this year
