Starting at 9am they cycled 35 miles and reached Oaksey at 1pm. Eleanor's husband, Nick, and the children would turn up at various spots along the way to offer support, check equipment and top up water bottles.
After lunch with their families, they cycled the gruelling 15 miles back to Charfield. However the support crew had changed. Helen's husband, Jon, was on hand.
Eleanor was the chief map reader, she did a superb job, the group did not loose our way once! However the most important job was yet to come. Jon was given the mission to get ahead and get the beers in!!!
At 4:15pm the peddleathon ended. With all the rest breaks taken out the 50 mile trek took 6hours and 15 minutes. |
