Race 2 - Saturday 28th November

Reporter:- Nicola Derrick
Run Charfield Run!

I am extremely proud to report back the results for the second cross-country race in the KLB district cross-country series on Saturday 28th November.
It was exceptionally challenging for all the children with the wind chill and extremely muddy course. There were numb fingers, legs, toes and noses. Mud splashed faces.
For Liam D and Cole E it was their debut.
This time I did not marshal, but was able to get some super pictures of all the children splashing through the muddy puddles towards the finish line.

Results:

Junior Girls (Yr3 & Yr4): 1000m
None registered.

Junior Boys (Yr3 & Yr4): 1000m
Three boys registered.
None ran.

Senior Girls (Yr5& Y6): 1500m
Three girls registered.
Two girls ran.

Emily N CD1: 16/68. Emily was particularly disappointed. She put everything she had into the race, but had been a bit "off colour" all week. Although jaw set and still determined, her usual stamina was not there. Keep your head up Emily.Well done for participating. Better luck next time!

Ella N CD2: 37/68.Yet another good consistent run for Ella who looked very cold but finished 37th confidently. Improvement on last time. Well done!

Senior Boys (Yr5 & Y6): 1500m
Eight boys registered.
Seven boys ran.

Luke M CD10: 2/85. Another impressive performance from Luke. This time a lovely mud splashed smile as he finished 2nd again......................!.

Patrick G CD6: 27/85. A good consistent run and an improvement on last time for Patrick. Well done!

Jack D CD1: 28/85. Jack was also disappointed. He also had been "off colour" the night before and was still determined to run. Keep your head up Jack. Well done for participating. Better luck next time!

Oliver S CD7: 38/85. Oliver's first run in the series. Oli looked cold and muddy but comfortable as he finished.Well done!

Josh K CD8: 63/85. Josh's first run in the series after recovering from illness. Josh also looked comfortable as he finished. In fact he looked like he could manage another 1500m! Well done!

Liam D CD4: 74/85. Liam's debut. Another lovely mud splashed smile as he finished. Well done! He enjoyed it so much he has decided to come back for more!

Cole E CD5: 80/85. Also Cole's debut. Cole looked very cold and tired as he finished. Well done for participating! Looking forward to seeing you again!

Overall results so far:

Emily N 8th Senior Girl

Race 1 - Saturday 7th November

Reporter:- Nicola Derrick
I am most delighted to report back a successful first cross-country race in the KLB district cross-country series on Saturday.
This year I was fortunate enough to marshal and can confirm that no more that 75 children ran each race.

Junior Boys (Yr3 & Yr4): 1000m

Morgan W: This young chap is consistently improving and we have been delighted with his commitment to cross-country over the past two years. Determined Morgan finished an impressive 36th.
Ryan D: This was Ryan's debut. This young man really did not know what to expect. He was apprehensive to begin with, but determination also got the better of him and he came 61st. Ryan had a positive debut experience and is keen to run in the next race at the end of the month.

Senior Boys (Yr5 & Yr6): 1500m

Luke M: Another impressive performance from Luke, to add to his successful track record for cross-country. This young man looked up at me with a lovely smile as he came comfortably 2nd through the finishing line.
Jack D: Also an impressive performance from Jack. This young man came 5th through the finishing line, tears running down his face. It was only afterwards that I discovered that he had taken a tumble on the way round and slipped back to 12th. Before the fall he was running comfortably with Luke in sight, but determination set in and he finished 5th.
Patrick G: This young man is also consistently improving. He does not regularly come to athletics club, but he is a good all round athlete and has also shown commitment to cross country over the past two years.
Patrick looked comfortable as he crossed 39th through the finish line.

Two further Senior boys had other commitments and one was poorly, but we will see them run in the race at the end of the month.

Junior Girls (Yr3 & Yr4): 1000m

There appears to be no Junior Girls participating at the moment. If you are a budding athletic Yr3 & Yr4 girl, please come to athletics club and represent our school.

Senior Girls (Yr5 & Yr6): 1500m

Emily N: I saw this young lady start as well as finish. Her jaw was set with determination and she produced another impressive performance to add to her track record for cross-country. Emily passed comfortably 3rd through the finish line.
Ella N: Again, another runner who is consistently improving. Ella looked comfortable as she came 40th through the finish line.
Natasha M: This was Natasha's debut. It was a positive experience for Natasha. She looked very comfortable and came 41st, just after Ella.
Afterwards this young lady told me she had a race plan. Clearly it worked. Looking forward to seeing Natasha run in the next race at the end of the month.

Thanks to Mo, Lisa and Ian for their continued support. Lisa supplied Kit Kats and Ian did a "rugby" warm up and a "stretch" cool down with the children.
Thanks to The Harvest Store, Wotton, for the free supply of bananas for the children!.
And not forgetting a huge thanks to all who represented and cheered Charfield on!
